Project Management is the planning and organization of resources in order to move capital projects through planning, programming, design and construction phases, into completion. Project Management typically involves a funded project, or a phase of a funded project. Resources managed include financial capital, stakeholder inclusion, and University and State capital project approval process.
Facilities Design & Construction project management staff includes Associate Project Managers, Project Managers, and Senior Project Managers, all who manage projects from small renovations to large complex multi-million dollar facilities. The project management staff reports to the Associate Director FDC project managers help safeguard the goals and objectives of a funded project, while ensuring the balance of scope, schedule and budget. Project managers coordinate large, complex teams of people, such as stakeholders (client), internal partners (IT, Physical Plant, Safety, Parking Services etc.), professional consultants (Architect, Engineering, Specialty consultants etc.) and construction teams. During the planning phase of a project, the project management process provides structure in order to ensure a holistic approach and seamless transition from planning, into programming, design and construction while adhering to UNM standards and guidelines to meet the stakeholder’s goals.
